  • Aluminum – A metal that in high doses can impair the brain development of children

  • Chloromethane – This is an industrial solvent and could cause cancer.
  • Chromium (total) – This is usually found in water as a result of industrial usage.
  • Cyanide – Often due to chemical industry waste, this toxic contaminant could cause thyroid toxicity and central nervous system damage
  • Fluoride – Fluoride is frequently added to tap water in many cities
  • Haloacetic acids (HAA5) – This group of five acids are formed as a disinfection side effect. Each of the acids can cause cancer. Dibromoacetic acid, Monobromoacetic acid, and Monochloroacetic acid are also present.
  • Manganese – While commonly found in water, in high doses exposure can impair the memory and attention span of children.
  • Molybdenum – A natural metal. Frequent exposure could cause gout-like symptoms
  • Nitrate – This fertilizer chemical is a known carcinogen.
  • Selenium – While this element is essential, in high doses it can cause skin lesions, brittle nails, hair loss, and decreased functioning of the thyroid.
  • Simazine – Similar to Atrazine, this herbicide disrupts proper hormone functioning
  • Strontium – This is metal that collects in your bones. It can cause bone cancer
  • Vanadium – A metal commonly used in steel. Too much exposure can be lethal to children and pregnant women.
